En Plein Air

Painting outdoors is commonly referred to by the French term en plein air—and it's a personal passion of mine. These smaller paintings, often done on wood panels, serve as exercises in observation and technique.
Painting on location offers a valuable opportunity to hone my perception and capture what's directly in front of me, in real time and natural light.
The settings for these works vary widely—from my own backyard to iconic landscapes across Northern Ontario, including Algonquin Park, Killarney Park, Pointe au Baril, Naiscoot Inlet, Holland Landing, and Midland.
